This blank verse of  &#8220;A Political Urban Legacy&#8221; was obviously influenced by Jean Michel&#8217;s graphics.  Jean Michel is best known for his illustrations of Franz Kafka&#8217;s &#8220;Metamorphosis&#8221;.<\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">A Political Urban Legacy<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">Bureaucratic-honed streets of emptiness, where, in angst silence,<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">most pass each other by.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">Elongated spaces, rimmed by offish, impermeable concrete erections.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">Looming Parnassus like, these structures dampen the hum<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">of moving toxic engines.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">Everywhere,  separation intoned.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">Strangers all,  to all<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">A Nietzeschian fear embalmed.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">A Zeitgeist Nihilism embraced.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">As light and evening to dusk fades<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">Hear now a cry!<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">A muffled shriek!<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">A loud reverberating booming sound<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">Screeching,  skidding wheels<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">A distant siren, wailing.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">Notated;  another victim<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">Yet roaming still at large unfettered marauders,<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">Meantime, laconic officials<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">In catatonic mien,<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">sleep unperturbed<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">indifferent.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">June 24, 2008<br \/>\nJoe O&#8217;Donoghue<\/p>\n<p>Joe O&#8217;Donoghue, past president of the Residential Builders Association of San Francisco, is a prime earth mover in the new Oakland Builders Alliance of Oakland.
